Professor Temel SAVAŞKAN

       Professor Temel Savaşkan was born in Trabzon and worked as a Research Assistant at Karadeniz Technical University between 1972 and 1974 after graduating from Ege (Aegean) University in 1970. He completed his MSc and PhD in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering Department of Aston University in 1975 and 1981, respectively.
      He worked as a Research Fellow at Marmara Research Institute of the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey between 1981 and 1982. He also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Atlantic Industrial Research Institute and Metallurgical Engineering Department of Technical University of Nova Scotia in Canada between 1982 and 1986. He joined the Mechanical Engineering Department of Karadeniz Technical University as an Assistant Professor in 1986. He became an Associate Professor in 1987 and was appointed as a  full Professor  in 1993 in the same department of this university.
      Professor Temel Savaskan worked as the Director of Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences between 1989 and 1995 and as the Vice Rector/President of Karadeniz Technical University between 1996 and 1997. He also worked as the Director of Research and Development Center of Materials Sciences and Manufacturing Technologies between 1995 and 2005, as the Head of Mechanical Engineering Department between 1999 and 2005 of the same university, as a Member of the Certification Committee in Trabzon Regional Representative of the Turkish Standard Institution between 1996 and 2012 and as the Head of Materials Division of the Mechanical Engineering Department of Karadeniz Technical University between 1997 and 2015. Prof. Dr. Temel Savaşkan joined the Mechanical Engineering Department of Haliç University as a Faculty Member on 1 November 2016. He served as the Head of Mechanical Engineering Department between 1st April 2017 and 1st April 2023. Prof. Dr. Temel Savaşkan also worked as the Director of Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences of Haliç University between 06 September 2017 and 14 February 2019.
      Professor Temel Savaşkan has authored more than 50 peer reviewed scientific papers and three text books, supervised 10 PhD and 18 MSc theses, and completed 17 scientific research project reports. He has also reviewed a large number of scientific papers, project proposals and reports.
