Professor Temel SAVAŞKAN

       Professor Temel Savaşkan was born in Trabzon and worked as a Research Assistant at Karadeniz Technical University between 1972 and 1974 after graduating from Ege University in 1970. He completed his MSc and PhD in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering Department at Aston University in 1975 and 1981, respectively.
He worked as a Research Fellow at Marmara Research Institute of the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey between 1981 and 1982. He also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Atlantic Industrial Research Institute and the Metallurgical Engineering Department of Technical University of Nova Scotia in Canada between 1982 and 1986. He joined the Mechanical Engineering Department at Karadeniz Technical University as an Assistant Professor in 1986. He became an Associate Professor in 1987 and was appointed as a full Professor in 1993 in the same department at this university.

      Professor Temel Savaşkan served as the Director of Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences from 1989 to 1995 and as  the  Vice  Rector/ President of Karadeniz Technical University between 1996 and 1997. He also served as the Director of Research and Development Cent er  of Materials Sciences and Manufacturing Technologies from 1995 to 2005 , and as  the Head of Mechanical Engineering Department at the same university from 1999 to 2005. Additionally, he was  a Member of the Certification Committee at the Trabzon Regional Representative of the Turkish Standard Institution  from  1996 to  2012, and he  headed the Materials Division of the Mechanical Engineering Department at  Karadeniz Technical University  from  1997  to 2015 .

     Prof. Dr. Temel Savaşkan joined the Mechanical Engineering Department at Haliç University as a Faculty Member on November 4, 2016.  He served as the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department from April 1, 2017, to April 1, 2023.  Prof. Dr. Temel Savaşkan also served as the Director of the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences at Haliç University from September 6, 2017, to February 14, 2019.  Prof. Dr. Temel Savaşkan has been serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Haliç University since August 13, 2024.

    Professor Temel Savaşkan has authored more than 60 peer reviewed scientific papers and three textbooks, supervised 10 PhD and 18 MSc theses, and completed 17 scientific research project reports. He has also reviewed numerous scientific papers, project proposals and reports.
